Passenger transport (PRT)

Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) is a concept for driverless passenger transport on rails.

Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) is a concept for driverless passenger transport on rails. Passengers are picked up on demand and taken to their destination. Known systems, however, are built in a way that rules out complex rail networks comparable to a road network. The reason is the complicated and failure-prone switches of these railways.

Y-Rail, with its patented passive switches, does not have this problem. Put simply, the road network can be lifted a few metres into the air and replaced by the Y-Rail network. Road safety, travel speed and environmental performance go up, while traffic noise and infrastructure costs fall sharply.

Y-Rail PRT opens up a promising outlook on a whole new level of mobility. At its core is flexible, autonomous door-to-door travel that makes for comfortable journeys and a better future. Because the Y-Rail system takes up little space, it fits in seamlessly alongside existing infrastructure.

Today’s transport system has been at its limits for a long time. Better vehicles and local infrastructure upgrades push these limits, but always at a cost far too high for such small gains. Our transport system is old and not up to the challenges of our time.

It is time for a radical change. It is time for Y-Rail PRT!

Goals

Mobility

Travel several times faster, open up rough and previously inaccessible areas, and build infrastructure faster.

Environment

Less pollution and noise, lower energy and resource use, and less sealed ground. Better and more efficient use of renewable energy.

Society

The highest possible safety in passenger transport (reaching Vision Zero). Infrastructure that bridges cultural and structural divides. Independent travel for people with reduced mobility.
