Y-Rail is ideal for use in tunnels beneath the lunar surface.

The Moon may well be settled in the coming decades. Space research has found that the best place to live is not the lunar surface but the giant lava tubes beneath it. Y-Rail is the clear answer for transport through these caves.

Unlike rovers, it does not depend on the ground and is guided safely along rails. The rail network doubles as a power and communication network. Rovers carry heavy batteries that have to be charged during the hours of sunlight, and their wireless communication only works with a direct line of sight, so not in tunnel systems. Low gravity is a great advantage for a suspended railway. Load-bearing parts can be made much lighter.

The passive switch of Y-Rail is what makes reliable operation beneath the lunar surface possible.

With Space Y-Rail, what used to be a dream comes a good deal closer to reality.
